From 11 Shipping Containers, He Built the Home of His Dreams
A man transformed his vision into reality by building his dream home from 11 shipping containers. And now, the finished result is astonishing—especially the interior, which is guaranteed to leave anyone speechless.
A Unique Architectural Marvel
The construction process was anything but simple. Will meticulously arranged all 11 shipping containers to create a unified, functional living space. Large windows and open floor plans were incorporated to bring in natural light and enhance ventilation. The modern layout blends perfectly with the rugged industrial character of the containers, forming a home that is as visually striking as it is innovative.
One of the most remarkable features of the house is its expansive rooftop terrace. This elevated outdoor retreat provides sweeping views of the Houston skyline. It’s an ideal spot for hosting gatherings, relaxing with friends, or unwinding beneath the evening stars.
A Captivating Interior
While the exterior makes a bold statement, the interior is what truly sets this home apart. Will invested tremendous effort into the design of every corner, embracing a minimalist yet sophisticated aesthetic. The open-concept living space is furnished with contemporary pieces that highlight the home’s generous proportions. Warm wood tones and neutral colors create an inviting atmosphere that feels both cozy and modern.
The kitchen is another highlight, equipped with high-end appliances, sleek cabinetry, and a spacious island that doubles as a dining area. The layout fosters connection and conversation, reflecting Will’s passion for cooking and hospitality while balancing efficiency with style.
The bedrooms are serene retreats, each featuring large windows that showcase beautiful outdoor views. Thoughtfully selected décor and personal touches add warmth and character. The bathrooms continue this theme of elegance, boasting spa-inspired finishes, modern fixtures, and a calming ambiance perfect for relaxation.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Will’s container home is not only a work of architectural creativity—it’s also a symbol of sustainable living. By repurposing shipping containers, he significantly reduced construction waste and lowered his environmental impact. Inside the home, energy-efficient appliances and eco-friendly materials further emphasize his dedication to sustainability.
In a world often dominated by traditional building styles, Will Brough’s container home stands as a bold example of what’s possible when creativity, persistence, and purpose come together. His journey from concept to completion is both inspiring and forward-thinking, offering a glimpse into what the future of sustainable housing can look like. Visitors to his home are greeted not only by a stunning structure but by a vision that challenges the boundaries of conventional design.
Will’s remarkable home can be found on McGowan Street in Houston.

According to the owner, his 11-container home is the largest residential container build of its kind. The containers were strategically arranged to create a striking three-story structure complete with a spacious rooftop terrace.

Bro had been dreaming of building his own home since the early 2000s, but finding the right designer proved difficult—so he eventually took matters into his own hands. “I started searching for suitable plans and even hired a designer and a team of builders to create a three-story townhouse,” he explained. “But after months of going in circles, it became clear they couldn’t deliver what I envisioned. In the end, I had to let them go because they simply couldn’t give me what I wanted.”

Determined not to let the setback stop him, he dove deeper into the world of architecture and container construction. He spent countless hours researching structural engineering, layout possibilities, and ways to transform industrial containers into comfortable living spaces. With every sketch and idea, his vision became clearer, and he realized he was capable of guiding the project himself—something he had never imagined at the start of his journey.

Once he refined the concept, he assembled a new team that understood his goals and respected his creativity. Together, they worked step by step to bring the ambitious three-story container home to life. The process wasn’t easy, but with persistence and a crystal-clear vision, Bro finally saw his dream rise from the ground—a striking, modern structure that perfectly captured the home he had been imagining for decades.
